That was how I read it: spending $600 on fencing instead of spending $600 on an lgd. (At that price, I'm presuming it would have to be an untrained puppy, so the person skipped the puppy they could then buy more fencing with the money they aren't spending on dog food and vet bills while the puppy grows up enough to actually guard anything. The time to install the fence is going to be less than the time to train the puppy, too.)

A quick update on the dogs:

My neighbor is currently in rehab to make sure she's fit to come home and we had animal control come out to bring the dogs outside so they aren't just cooped up in their crates. They've calmed down a little and I'm hopeful that with some bribery they'll at least tolerate me

$600 for an LGD? In what world? I thought they were closer to $2,000.

Depends. I'm sure proper, purebred lgd are that much but mixed puppies are about $600. I could fence in my whole yard for $2k.

Pretty sure they were talking about buying fencing. Or at least I thought.

My sister had a “Special Way” of doing things too. She’d purposely screw it up so I’d have to do it for the rest of eternity.
