Thank you Judymae, well NO signs of anything.....just poof ! I have never had this rooster NOT be right next to his hens NEVER , I know he is gone.......and I know the Guineas , they never seperate.....and the amount of screaming they did.well..... I just know................this is hard, I was really attached to this rooster..........

Sorry to hear two can't be found. We free range our flock and go running when stress calls are sounded, it really helps to get outside right away to give them support...
while the flock can be noisy at times the stress calls are the ones to be alert for. Once you know what they sound like, fast action can save your hen.
This is part of the risk we take with free ranging, however the hens wouldn't want it any other way, it is the way life is lived to the fullest.

It is possible that they got away. We had a case where a fox tried 3 times to catch one of the flock. Feathers were spread enough that you would think she killed one for sure. We found one roo 250 yards from the back yard, upset, confused, but ok and another hen under a spruce tree near by. Maybe looking some more might be worth it... Good Luck.

thanks, I think I will put my boots on and treadge through the uncleared part in back,,,,part of me dreads finding a horribly hurt roo.........but I might find him just hurt.he was so big,it had to be a big dog I see around here or a coyote I cannot imagine he was taken by something small..........

well.........I found Mr Roo's feathers.......nothing else. couldnt find any tracks, of course it was right where my horse goes through the two pastures so ................. Good bye Mr roo...........I am going to miss him and so do his hens.......he was in charge of the roosting plan in the coop and now none of them know what to do........... the guineas are standing in front of a mirror I put up today............. I had gone SO long without trouble.now my flock will surely stay in for a while and I hate that.......got my gun loaded though.........so what ever took him.when it comes back will not see the light of day again :thun

Oh okiechick.....I am so very sorry. :aww I know we all will one day face this...I wish that we didnt. I free range mine, and have at times left and gone to town for hours with them running loose. However, they can get in the shop...and there are LOTS of high places for them to get up on. Again, I am so very sorry.
