Tractor supply sold out of chicks first day here in Starke,FL

Just thought it was interesting. Was not going to buy any or introduce any new chicks to the flock since too high risks of disease and my birds are very healthy. I think it’s a good sign that more people are getting into backyard chickens.

Is that not normal for them? This was our first year looking and ours has gotten baby chicks for 2 weeks now and they sell out every day. I thought it was crazy

Same here. I have been in tractor supply three times since they started carrying spring chicks this year and each time they had no chicks. They did have ducks and turkeys though.

Not normal besides in 2020. It used to be that you could go into tractor supply pretty much any day of the week and they would have some chicks left.

Wow I didnt know that because we never had reason to shop at tractor supply before. We started thinking about chickens and half the places we used to hear had them dont and then we were calling tractor supply 2 times a week on chick days hoping there would be some left LOL

It seems to be quite the feat to find chicks right now. I’m sure in the fall we will be seeing quite of few of these impulse buyers circulating on Craigslist.

In September, we're going to have easy pickings of pullets from panic buyers who realized they don't need chickens.

Yeah I basically gave up on the search and ordered hatching eggs instead. I figured it would be the faster way to get chickens The allure of having chickens goes once you own them?

Not always I love my chickens, but currently there are a lot of people who know nothing about chickens panic buying with the economy and egg prices. They are in for a rude awakening when they realize they are not saving any money by raising their own chickens for eggs.
