Undercover rooster?

I got EVERYBODY topped!!!
My first batch of chickens came from a friend who showed up with a tote full of chicks. He said YOU pick.

I picked All roosters and one hen....
Y’all feel better now? :lau

Poor you....no doubt, lovely cockerel. :hmm

Please don't feel like you're alone in this poultry adventure. Time to add my sob story to the current collection. ;) Last year, I had a bright idea - why not get 12 straight run Easter Eggers? 10 cockerels, and 2 pullets. Enough said.

What’d you do with all of them?! I bet they were pretty though! EE roosters are my favorite. We have 2 right now. This guy is my favorite . We are slowly finding them new homes.

I am so fully aware, thanks to my lovely friends here, that I am so very lucky that after buying my first set of chicks (5) from Agway, my second batch (6) from Meyer's... then my third set of chicks from a local (3) that everybody I've bought with the hope of getting pullets... have been pullets. The only rooster I have I bought as a two yr old rooster.

All but one met the chopping block. :hmm Awful-natured creatures. Too bad they were dazzlingly gorgeous. Only one turned out a decent bird, but we were unable to keep him as I have younger brothers who are terrified of large roosters. He's now the beloved pet of another family member. :)

What a stunner your boy is! :love Reminds me a lot of this evil dude:

This pic just popped up in the random photo feed. Had to comment, even though this is from last year. What a GORGEOUS fella!
