What Color are Pekin duck eggs?

Im not saying this to seem rude, but you are incorrect I raise several types of ducks and chickens! Pekin ducks lay large white, light green and light greenish blue eggs. Not all duck eggs or chicken eggs are white! I have 1 drake and 4 females and all my female pekins lay greenish blue eggs.also they can be very broody I ave one female that collects all eggs and hatches several at a time! right now she is laying on 17 large fertilized eggs due to hatch last week of march.

that , while not bad, unsafe for the upcomeing ducklings, more eggs means more mess which can also lead to more sickness either it be from flys, ants, or even some birds will get into the egg shells that can cause sickness in the young babies.

a recommended amount of eggs for larger ducks like pekin are about 10-12 while as the duck gets smaller the clutch size goes down too for calls its about 3-5 eggs for the best results in hatching and the best results in healthy babies

Thank you for the advice! I will definitely keep a look out for bugs! I always separate her from the other females when she is broody! This is her 5th time hatching! last time she had 15 and 14 hatched! I haven't had issues with bugs or unhealthy birds! I have my local farm vet check all ducklings before they leave my home and I try to keep coops for all birds especially the broody birds as clean as possible! my property is treated every 3 months with a non toxic treatment to be free of fleas and ants! So far all 17 eggs are doing well but 1 is developing a little slower so it has been moved to a incubator! She is my only broody pekin that will take eggs to term , I have another female who goes broody and at week 3 she tends to roll out eggs for the others to eat! its a horrible thing to see so I do not allow her to sit anymore!!

I have a question related to your question. I think my Pekins have just started laying but not sure. Are their eggs just a little larger than extra large when they first start laying? Right now I am getting eggs about the same size as what my Buffs lay but more round and lighter in color, almost completely white.

If you crack one you can usually tell too. A ducks egg white will be clearer a chicken egg white has a yellower tint or can be cloudy. Before you cook it obviously...lol
