What did you do in the garden today?

I've got ants crawling up my huckleberry plants. Any suggestions for the best way to deal with this?

I found two more potato plants breaking through the dirt. Yay!

So far we have received 1.5" of a good soaking rain, DW came in happy, all her direct sow is popping, TG, guess who's really happy!

I pinched off the flowers on my tomatoes. They are barely a foot tall... I'd like them to grow a lot more before expending energy on fruiting.

With all this rain (another inch last night), I need to go weed again... And the mosquitoes are just horrendous!

When I bought a dozen wild strawberry plants at the local native plant nursery a couple of years ago, the owner suggested pinching off the blooms so the plant could focus on root growth the first year. I didn't, and now they have spread absolutely everywhere. Most of that green you can see is wild strawberries. I have literally hundreds of strawberry plants now and I'm always digging them up and transplanting them or giving them away. And I carry a bowl when I garden to collect up any ripe strawberries.

I bought a roll of 3-inch plastic caution tape and tree glue from amazon to prevent ants from climbing up the tree.

Pulled some rhubarb for the elderly couple down the hill. I'll go out shortly and grab some for myself and get a pie in the oven before dinner.
I over watered the garden. I forgot the irrigation was on. Oh well. Only thing out there ATM is the herb bed and it's raised bed, they'll drain quickly enough. It's good to soak the earth before I plant tomatoes in a week or so anyway.
I think the chicks need to move to their new grow-out house. They're driving each other nuts.

I put the marigolds in the ground today. Trying to harden off a few more things too, I want my indoor space back!

I planted two kinds of chard and some collards. Yeah, late, I know.

I saw flower buds on my grape vines! I might get my first grapes this year!

The persimmon tree arrived today from Stark. It looks to be a good size and looks healthy. I hope it gets established and lives as this one replaces the same variety that died.

Hoping to see the other trees arrive soon.
