Wrath's Marans

Pictures or it doesn't count!

Vs usual Brahma egg (just over 2 oz)

I thought I’d show in grammes because I think that’s what you guys use to measure them. It’s 4.02 oz.

I think the biggest I've seen here was 80+g from my Isa Brown. I haven't been weighing eggs for very long and still don't regularly.
My Brahmas frequently lay double yolkers at the start of the laying season, even the 3 year old hens do, which is unusual as usually double yolders are associated with pullets. At least two or three hens of the eight in the pen with blue have laid some in the past week.

I'm noticing the 7 from Solo are a tad more grey than head spot, especially in the shoulders. (A real light grey) I'll get some better pics if she stops attacking me.
Last pic chick in front is head spot. Darker/blacker than the rest.
This is really interesting to watch these grow out.

I can’t tell much about the shade from these photos (like you say, some broodies aren’t big fans of attention from the paparazzi), but I can say that I’m leaning towards headspot being a pullet, though I’m not the biggest fan of feather sexing.

I don’t know much about variation in birchen based chick down, it would be interesting to see how this plays out both with age or future generations.

It could be just my eyes deceiving me. Head spot could be just a darker chick compared to normal BCM penguins making it stand out.
I noticed a lot less white on it.

Need better pics, minus the blood bath.
