So I just learned something interesting. I found out a lady that owns a farm down the road used to breed BCM and Cuckoo Marans and would ship hatching eggs all over the US. What are the chances! Unfortunately, the person who told me couldn't remember the nice lady's name. I've never seen anyone coming/going from that place but going to try to leave a note in the mailbox introducing myself.

Maybe I'll get a good rooster from her!

Have you tried a Google or FB search for Black Coppers near you. I've got a few sources I can send you for hatching eggs if you'd like if this doesn't work out.

Let's hope she gets nice normal round dark eggs. There is a good chance for speckles, though! I have my first batch of legbars and marans hatching right now.

Have you tried a Google or FB search for Black Coppers near you. I've got a few sources I can send you for hatching eggs if you'd like if this doesn't work out.

I know there's a family run farm nearby that sells them (that's where I got my flock) but I believe they get their chicks from Ideal and just resell them.

I'm not so sure about hatching eggs. Feel like incubation is a little too advanced for me. Haha. If I have a broody, I'll get her some eggs or sexed chicks.

With the shortage of eggs and massive increase in egg prices, my $5/dozen cartons are a hit! Now I'm thinking about expanding since I'm selling so much....

It took a few days after selling some boys and adding the 3 youngest for everybody to settle in to the routine. It was a transition with some chasing but no major beatings.
One of the older BCM boys now has really taken a liking to them and hangs out with them quite a bit.
I did notice the other day that 1 of the 3 was harassing another a couple times thru out the day, but witnessed Poppy come running and quickly nip that in the bud.

The links I have are from quality breeder stock so the price for eggs reflects it. I'm not sure if any of them ships day olds but from the pics, it's some of the darkest eggs I've ever seen.

Ahhh... It's easy. Just plug it in and freak out for 21 days. Best advise I can give, is make sure you have a calibrated hygrometer/thermometer as most incubators are notorious for being off either slightly or in my case, way off....
But there's plenty of experts to help here on BYC with questions if you do decide to try hatching.

Try breeding a certain variety and then you want them all.
Oof.... Too many breeds, not enough property.
