These gals know how to party! Chickens Gone Wild! Pics

Gave the run a good raking out- added all of the poo and massive amount of feathers from the epidemic-style molt going on in my flock to the compost. Then piled it high with leaves and pine needles. Add and handful of scratch, and you have one heck of a party! Lop an old pumpkin in half and add...

    Today is processing day.

We are first time raisers of meaties. We have 50 Freedom Rangers, and we did a test bird last night to see how our setup would work out. Then he went straight onto the grill so we could get a feel for how resting the birds a couple of days will add to the texture and to taste the fruit of our...

I accidently ate a 1/2 dozen eggs today!

I had 2 fried eggs for breakfast. I then took my Gram out for lunch and had about 2 more on a salad. Just now I needed a snack and without thinking, I ate the last 2 hard-boiled pullet eggs that were hanging out in the fridge! Eeeeek, egg overload!

Pictures of our little homestead in the snow. Post yours!

The chickens are happy as clams! 3 out of the 4 dogs are too! The brindle boxer decided she was frozen and headed inside. Cat's will be cats I suppose. About a foot and still falling! After much playing and shoveling I'm warm by the fire in here!

Gazillions of buttons! What to do with them?

In helping my little old Gram clean out a junk room, she bestowed upon me her and her mother's century old button collection. While they are endearing to simply look at, I would like to to do something creative with them. Any ideas?

    Strawberry-Cranberry Jam without pectin?

Can I do this? I have all I need besides the pectin and I REALLY don't want to fend off the masses at the store today. The Cranberry Sauce I made yesterday jelled just fine without it, do you think they would help hold up the Strawberries in the jam?
