About 2.5 months old.. I haven't been able to look at them very closely... Mom is really shy... And you know how chicks raised by a broody can be... But based on looking at them... I think you are correct. 1 pullet, 2 cockerels.
Okay, terrible pictures.. But you will get the idea. Silver Spangled Hamburgs have a rose comb, First pic.. I posted Mom, and the young chicks.. As well as today...
there are 3 two look black with white barring and one looks like a small, dark legbar pullet, brown with white...
I also have a similar cross of Legbar x Silver Spangled Hamburg... My pullet looks very similar. I would have thought the silver would be dominate. Curious why they are so dark. :) Any of you Genetics Experts want to weigh in.
Well she is a pretty little thing. Do you know anything about the genetics that mixing the Spangled with the legbar produces such a dark result. That surprised me!
yeah, think it was Sept. Yes he is a full brother to your rooster ... unfortunately I think your was taken by an owl... Have you kept any of yours long enough to tell if the fading with molt is typical, or just hot summer and free range issues. :)
I can't tell much about the boys, but I fell in love with your pullets! I also have a couple Legbar x Silver Spangled Hamburg... I was surprised they are so dark, but look at lot like your pullet does. (Hamburgs and your X look a lot alike.) Regarding your CL, love her legs, crest, and the she...
Well, because I am kind of in love with him... I have many pictures from many angles... But, I truly am not offended by any negative feedback, I would just like to learn. Sunny was a cast off of @flyingmonkeypoop ... and I know he knows more than I do. So, it isn't like I think he is the...
Okay, I have down loaded the app, but haven't figured out how to use it. :) Will PM you soon, looks fun! My eggs are a bit dull right now and the hens have gone into early molt. :) Anytime you want eggs just let me know!
I agree. I would feed "not mine" shells", but if you think about it.... Wouldn't the chick have whatever the egg has??? lol, not being argumentative just laughing at humans.
I just toss mine back outside... If I was hatching eggs from a different source, I wouldn't feed the shells, for some weird, unrealistic thought of spreading disease or something.
I also have fed every dog I have ever owned chicken bones. I know there is like a 1 in a million chance they can...
No Problem.. I wasn't going to be offended, just wanted someone to walk me through it. :) Just wanted to discuss the never ending color discussion. Part of the reason I haven't gone for color changes, is I still don't know what is cream. : ) I appreciate your earlier feedback and didn't...
This is not Sunny, young rooster not yet filled out... How would you say he is developing. I really need honest feedback. I think he has too much chestnut, and I know most of you won't like his color... Although he is much lighter than sunny was at the same age...
First, I know he isn't changing genetically with age.. I assume you know i know that. ;). Yes, he has faded some, but also after his molt, he is notable less yellow in the hackles, and the saddle which used to be orange is now yellow, and although a mismatch from his hackles not nearly as...
