US Crele and White Sport Legbar Breeders - Alternative Legbar Group, for those not breeding to the P

The purpose of this thread is for anyone interested breeding, raising, buying or selling the Crele (Gold) crested, blue egg laying Legbar and the solid White Sport. Some have proposed the name 'crele' for the more colorful Legbar. Crele is wild type (E-locus = e+) with barring (B/ on female and...

A friend sent this picture of this hen asking if I knew what she could be...

This is how she described the hen.... We bought her from the Feed Store in Spring 2013. She was supposed to be a Barred Rock. Obviously not. Any clue what she might be? She's only about 2 pounds, lays very small white eggs, is very vocal - kind of whiny and very flighty.. Cute little thing.

Putting Baby Chicks Outside - Let's talk about it!!!

I have read many posts on here regarding putting baby chicks outside, most seem to feel the chicks must be fully feathered. Here are my thoughts, and I would like to hear discussion on this. After observing my Broody Hen mothers I realized these chicks do not stay anywhere near 95 degrees on...

Fully formed chicks that don't hatch.

Hello All, I have incubated my third batch of eggs, to find I have a lot of fully formed chicks that do not hatch. Candle on day 18, see movement and then they just seem to die, up to 50%.. These have been my eggs, bought eggs, and shipped eggs, so it has to be something with my incubator or...

Guesses on what my mixed rooster might be.

I received this rooster from a couple that was moving, he is beautiful, good with the ladies and very protective with out a mean bone in his body. My hens are 100% fertile. The people I got him from said he was Polish and Silkie. I find this hard to believe as he has a slight game bird look...

    Breed and Gender please.

This chick was purchased as a Dark Brown Layer. I am thinking he won't be laying... What is your opinion? I think he might be Wellsummer or Copper Black Maran. He/She is a little over 2 months. He has feathered dark legs. What doesn't show in this lighting is that the copper feathering...

Getting ready to purchase an incubator.

I know there are other threads but not recently (That I could find) I want a small auto incubator because I don't know what I am doing. I like the Brinsea Brinsea Advance Autoturn Digital and Menu-driven Compact Incubator. Based on marketing, but wanted some feedback. I am thinking of doing...

Lots of mice in slash pile near coop.

I have a small slash pile near my coop. I have been noticing lots of mice. None of my chickens seem interested in the mice. Is there any threat here? Should I worry about how to get rid of the mice? Answers appreciated.

Incubating the natural way... Ups and Downs on my first attempt.

Day 1: Broody chicken is discovered, she is flattened out on all the eggs in the coop, and fighting others for their eggs. Rolling and moving all eggs into her "clutch". We take some eggs, but replace them with fertile eggs. Day 2: She is still stealing eggs and other chickens are moving her...

Hello, My name is Kendy and I am a chicken addict.

Last year I started with some young chicks who were unfortunately attacked by what I think was a chicken hawk. After that I got some full grown hens. I have learned over time they are Buff and Black orphinton. We have 6 of these ladies and picked up an Easter Egger from a neighbor who's other...
