    Bloody poop in chicks

I picked up 4 chicks from a feed store yesterday the oldest he said were around 4 weeks, and the other 2 are around 2 to 3 weeks. One of the cochins was a little lethargic and is around the 2 to 3 week mark. And one of them had bloody poop. Could this be cocci? The chicks are all eating and...

Whats wrong? rooster -young -getting trampled

Okay so like he can run and stuff and stand but their are times I was watching and it just seems like he would tip over a little and have to use his wing to catch him. I watched him run and stuff, but then he would maybe lose his balance and almost fall over. Its not a problem he usually has...

    are chickens pets?

Pets or no? Yes I would say they are more pets.Unfortunatly some of these pets have a limited life expectancy. When they stop laying some of them will go. When I rooster no longer serves his purpose he will also go. I like to play with colors and such so once I see what I roosters overspring...

Taking a Poll: how many weeks until your EE/OEs started laying?

I have two EE's and we are beginning to wonder if they will ever lay. They are in the 30 week area, I think even over 32 weeks. Their combs are only a light pink, and they don't look ready to lay yet. Beautiful birds but i am getting impatient lol

Egg without shell yesterday lethargic today

She is doing great! My mom was out their checking on her and somehow she had gotten a vine with burrs wrapped around her wing. I don't know how we didn't notice it before! We took it off and all was well. I am guessing the bad egg was probably cause she was stressed!

Why are my EE's not laying????? Why are none of my chickens laying?

The problem is with 16ish hens we are lucky to get 5-8 eggs a day in JULY! And 5 of those eggs were from our 5 new layers. The other 3 were 1 sex link, 1 red and the silkie! We have had a huge decline, I can probably add some light, might help with the newer layers who also have suddenly stopped...

Merging two flocks - looking for tips

One thing I have found effective is to let the older hens free range with the younger ones. I have let my hens free range with chicks as young as 4 weeks. Usually they come check em out maybe give em a peck and then get bored. Some don't even bother them they are to interested in finding bugs...
