He’s a beauty 😊 I am toying with the idea of borrowing my friends silkie Roo for my silkie ladies, and hatching some chicks in the Spring.
Maybe…. Currently I have way too many chooks but they are addictive! At least they pay their way with eggs! Same cannnot be said of my horses 😆
My satin silkie hatched her Polkie two eggs, one from my silkie Fluffy, and another from the frizzle fluff ball Curly. I did a gender dna test on both.
Fluffy’s egg child is a boy, he has 5 toes each foot, and feathered legs, and dark skin.
Curly’s egg child is a girl, she is also going to be...
I don’t breed my silkies - though I have given eggs to my friend to hatch crossed with my Polish Roo. I also hatched one from Marty but it turned out to be a cockerel 😟 he was a beauty.
I removed the roosts in my Hen House and put in a ledge that is 30” high; my silkies were hop/flapping up to the 5’ high level freaking me out!
One night when I was working out west I watch my wee black silkie hen Marty (on camera) launch herself into the abyss - she was roosting about 36” up...
Agreed would never have an all silkie flock, but the chicks sure are funny when they try to fly like the other chicks can 😆 epic fail to try to fly up onto the roost hahaha.
Again interesting; my Polish X Silkie (mama) cockerel has black skin though, is that normal?
For the longest time I hoped he was a pullet, good to know that next try I should look for white skin for a pullet 😊
