I've had a very very busy week but I had to pop in to say...I think I hit the feed store straight run jackpot! I am fairly sure both of my runners are GIRLS!!!!! Wooo!
Thank you, I do believe I did exactly what needed to be done...I just wish we had an emergency pen. Something we never thought of.
Every day with animals is a new learning experience that is for sure. I will be setting up a second pen for future emergencies. Thanks for your kind words.
Thank...
I am so upset.
Three days ago I had to make the call to move the boys to the garden to protect the girls. Pogo was beating up on little duck really badly during breeding. We were in the process of building a drake pen at my FIL's house but had a couple steps left before they could go in it...
Don't laugh too hard but here is my first attempt at duck diapers. I didn't take much time to make these ones, knowing they will only fit for a couple of days. But they don't mind them at all and they love that they get longer lap time now. I'll post my next attempt in a few days...
Pogo and Louie officially landed themselves in our big garden while we build a fence for drake camp at Shane's dad's house. Little brats. We gave them another chance to stay with the girls but once again found a mud covered over bred Little duck. They don't do that to Oakley, they are only rough...
I don't know if you guys remember but last summer I raised a group of ancona babies for a friend (my Louie is from that group). Well we heard today that the chocolate girl is sitting on her very first nest! His original girl (Little Duck's mom) is also on a nest.
Now to stay far away from his...
Lol they need an off switch. Shane's dad is interested in starting a flock over at his house so we will see how he does after segregation. If he needs to be moved on a permanent basis this would be ideal. He would only be a few minutes away and we go there all the time so I would still get to...
We are having a bit of an issue with our lead drake, Pogo. Typical drake stuff but he is getting overly rough with my girls the last couple of days. His main interest is Little duck and today her front was full of mud and her wing feathers are all shabby. Time to move him to the garden I think...
Thanks, I will do that for sure if they are late. The OH is on the phone with the post office trying to figure out when they will get here and trying to stop them at the post office before ours (its about 25 minutes away but would emliminate them sitting at ours outside for 2 hours before...
I'm a little bit worried now...we checked our tracking for the babies. They shipped yesterday and now it is saying they won't be here until thursday. That doesn't seem right.
Thanks! The other half built it, he is a pretty talented guy,
Thank you. We really wanted them to have a nice looking house. I think we are going with smaller A frame style coops now, a couple of them. May still do the outsides in Cedar so they are still pretty. But at least they can still come...
I never posted the finished coop...problem is once it was finished we decided it was too small since our number had increased. So now it will be my workshop. I am bummed we can't use it for the ducks, it is so pretty. Now we have to build another one but it won't be this pretty...this one cost a...
I couldn't leave these two little fluffy bundles of cute! I mean they were all adorable but these two stood out to me. Our other babies are coming from Johnsons waterfowl in Minnesota. The prices are awesome and the lady we talked to was adorable and sweet.
Ours do too Haha!! We are in the...
