@Chicken5555 , you should never use a bird with leakage if you can absolutely avoid it. These things do not just go away, they lurk in your line and then can reappear years after you thought you had rid your flock of the fault. Considering the other bird is brother to the one that is leaking...

She's a he, & looks more like an EE than a true Ameraucana- where did you get him? No idea on the Silkie...

Mother & daughter are both lovely- I love the color they have in their tails, especially the Wheaten pullet.

Has anyone made any progress correcting the tail color in their Wheaten/Blue Wheaten females? Lack of black/blue in the tail was always one of my biggest headaches.

Her hackle feathers are severely striped, like you would see in a poor colored male. One can only assume that she would pass this fault down to her male and female offspring. This also could be indicative of hidden genetics that she may be carrying. Typically if a bird is carrying...

She's an Easter Egger, a very lovely one, but not a pure Ameraucana. Blue Wheaten. & Splash Wheatens should look more like this, though this girl is a bit gingery.

I'd say it looks like there's a good chance she's carrying the Dun gene! She's a pretty girl. Do you have any solid Black (or Blue) roos? Putting one over her would increase your odds of hatching solid Dun chicks (solid chocolate colored) The would probably have some color leakage due to...

Do you have pictures of the hen with "Khaki" in her tail? Are you sure if it is in fact Khaki... a.k.a homozygous Dun? If she is carrying the Dun gene and she is pure for it (2 copies) breeding her to a Black (or Blue) bird (Wheaten in this case) has the potential to yield some Dun chicks...

Honestly, if you are this unhappy with the breed- give them up. Raising chickens shouldn't make you as frustrated as you seem to be. Thinking forward I'd imagine things will only get worse for you, because how now will these birds ever live up to expectation? Maybe you should focus your...

Jean, have you ever crossed your Buffs to Black and got any off colors? Besides what you would expect from the cross I mean? I would LOVE to hatch some Blue X Choc Ameraucana eggs but there's a problem... I don't have any incubators right now! I sold all of my table top styrofoam ones and my...
