IMO most chicken folks = little off, chicken rescue = way off. I am all for dog and cat adoption but short of some old valued line best way to rescue a chicken is a good recipe
ha ha Doc, I had the magazine setting on the counter for a few days now. He looks good as your fowl normally do. That pair I got from you is doing great down here those are some fine fowl................ Keep up the great work
Carr is a fine gentleman with a world of fowl knowledge to go along with a true understating and appreciation for his breed of choice. IMO having those genes could only improve any Assil breeding program. Good stuff and good luck with them................
OK Daniel, I must say that I have come to the same conclusion as to the Zook/Roberts shamo. I will also agree with you that both are gentlemen and general nice folks. The birds I got are very correct physically and healthy. However I do not believe them to carry that specific trait that would...
Hello Daniel, think we may have discuss this topic at some point in the past. I must say I don't agree, there may be some Shamo that are dunghill just like there are fowl of any type. Particularly in the current legal standing it is hard to even have this discussion much less work to maintain...
Hello, I know the Microdots tend to come small but I would not consider them Bantam? though not really an expert, mine is about a bull stag now and prob weigh is 3 lbs 9 oz . Speaking for my experience with that line they are fine fowl as fine as any I have the good fortune to have in my yard.
he should get use to the tether with no problems, I would be more concerned with predators or loose fowl while on the tether. I use my tethers on rotation some time on the cord some time in a round pen. The cord is good to let them scratch on green grass keeps them happy.you know how it goes...
Hey Sharon, it all depends on the individual cock/stag most will settle in after a day or two. I normally will keep a close eye on them and rotate the tethered leg more frequently when first on the cord.
Took some pics yesterday thought I would share the Dom is out of the original batch of chicks and the white is one I got from William Roberts last fall
Hello Sharon, was it the shamo stag/ cock from me? Did he flog you or wing dance? I normally will remove the cocks from the pens if I need to grab the hens just to avoid situations. How ever aggressive behavior is not to be tolerated but at the same time should not be unknowingly propagated. Try...
Hey Illia, sounds good did you hatch under broody or bator? That line of shamo has yielded a full spectrum of colors maybe now you could shed some light on in for me. I must admit I have never made a game fowl pairing with any consideration as to color. Glad to hear the fowl has settled down and...
Hey Pop, matter of fact today is the day to weigh, worm and vaccinate those goat kids you saw running round the pasture. While I do agree that an experienced hand can give you more than just weight, but #'s on a page is a more transferable method for me. I might note how the bird, goat, dog...
