Adorable!

He is finally growing his beard. This millie fleur d'Uccle roo was hatched just before the Easter HAL. It took so long for the beard feathers to start growing I thought he may never get them, lol. He still hasn't learned to crow even though he hears the grown roos crowing every morning.

Mama had her brood out on their first foraging trip today. It only lasted a few minutes before bringing them back to the coop for a warm up. Of course, they couldn't go out without a big strong guardian rooster standing watch.

And spunky too. Probably a little cockerel.

I had to candle to make sure there weren't anymore rotten eggs in the bunch. It was a bit too late for the "sniff" test, since the smell of rotten egg was already everywhere.

Well, this morning just took a turn for the worse. Eggs under the broody hen were beginning to pip and eggs inside were beginning to pip. All was looking good until I got a smell of Mama's nest. She was trying to sit on the eggs while also trying to get as far away from the nest as possible...

Wow! And, I thought I had my hands full with one crazy broody. I am not sure I could keep track of all those broody hens.
