They aren't so little now. Pretty little juveniles. Boys? Girls?I’m up early to listen to the music of my beloved Mr Wyandottey (Rudy the roo) I call him by both names. He’s a good roo. But I have to feed him separate from the rest. He needs nourishment too. He tidbits a bit too much, and I don’t understand why, he’s a beautiful roo and shouldn’t have to bribe his girls.
He’s even sexually aggressive with little Nacho, but that’s what comes with being here in my coop! I have had no further contact with that neighbor about Nacho or the littles.View attachment 4081676
I am sorry your weather has turned extreme. It’s hard on both humans and animals these extremes in temps.
Question to everyone:
How do you keep your chooks cool in the heat of summer?
We are off the beat and path here. Only immediate neighbors would see it and I could just ask them if they want it. But, again, they would have to come over and tear down the building to get it out. The building was built around it.A tub shell w/o the pumps, heaters, covers, or electrical added, just the plain tub is expensive.
DH says if you want it to disappear w/o selling put it out to the curb w/ a "for sale" sign whatever price doesn't matter & it will be stolen in a couple days. Our neighbor had a dinette set out at the curb for free several days w/ no takers. DH told him to put up a sign $50 & the next day the set was "stolen" once the thieves figured it had "value." Nice way to dispose of it if that's your goal![]()

That is a BIG river! Does it stay wide during summer season? I saw your ducks when I magnifiedDoes the first pair of ducks on the river this year count as a Tuesday twofer? Beyond this bank is a slough which makes a popular nesting area for the ducks and geese each year. Best picture I can get with a phone camera, especially since they are on the other side of the river.

Yes, it stays big. You are only seeing less than half of the width of the river. The flow is managed via 3 upriver dams, so it may get a little higher or lower, but maintains a fairly constant level. That is a BIG river! Does it stay wide during summer season? I saw your ducks when I magnified![]()
When I magnified, one had a black back & one had a brownish back... a mated pair maybe? or just 2 males swimming along?I never thought to find out, but they are not all white. Hard to see in the photo, but the males are black and white and the females are brown and white. I will have to get my binoculars out to see details and then I can probably identify. Could be Buffleheads, but I need to see them closer. We get a lot of different kinds of ducks, but this one is the most common.
