Everybody is having a good time.

The chicks and Marble love each other already, they keep taking turns standing next to him and staring at him. 😆
I've read that is how roosters bond to the flock, by staring deep into their eyes. Whatever it is, he's super perked up today.

This plastic coop is where they nap during the day, they prefer to sleep in the wooden one with insulation at night.

I’ll be watching you Marble. Just remember, it isn’t the suit that makes the man, but it sure does help!

I don’t know how much longer I can stay in this situation. The little ones have me pinned down to the couch. Mama hen sitting nearby and calling the shots. I have fed them, but I need breakfast too. I can’t just get up and walk out, they are everywhere! At least I have my cell phone. If I was to call emergency services, then what would I say? “Please state your emergency”
“I’m covered in baby chicks and they won’t let me leave my room.”
“They bite hard and are profusely being sure that I don’t leave”
Maybe I could call animal control and ask for advice.

As if I did not need another reason to love silkies more.

I have decided that if Reba sticks it out and does not break by the time the incubator chicks hatch I am going to offer a few to her to see if she will rear. I trust the silkies to be excellent mothers. I am also debating what to do with the other broody girls. Do I give them eggs, do I fight and break them. If I give them eggs do I go with silkie eggs or do I give them some from the big girls. I'm very, very, very tempted to offer Spooky some of Owly's eggs, and Mrs Es. I would give Raven eggs in a heartbeat, but dang it, she is on the hay pile as her final choice for a nest. Unfortunately we are down to I think 8 or 9 bales, we will have to get more hay in a weekish. I cannot let her stay there for 3 weeks and she will not move locations when she chooses a spot.
