Just heading out to do chores, I am pooped, I had to get snow off the roof of the two sheds and the gazebo, plus dig out the path to the manure pile. The snow is over my knees so walking through it is hard work.

I am going to feed the horses and head to bed, everyone have a lovely evening/night/day.

The horses are waiting on me to feed them - what’s with that cobweb?!

Sounds like time for the snowshoes. It's about a foot deep here. Heading out to close up now. Some ventured out today, but not many and temps are dropping this week.

Penelope

Cowards die many times before their deaths; The valiant never taste of death but once. Of all the wonders that I yet have heard, It seems to me most strange that men should fear; Seeing that death, a necessary end, Will come when it will come.

(Shakespeare: Julius Cesar)

A lovely valiant grand old lady

She and Marty were Mr P’s favourite hens.

The white "L" egg did not make it, dropped while candling and splattered. :(
I went ahead and put a "o" on the pointy end of any egg that seems to be developing. Had a few I couldn't see inside (olive, marans, and a green legbar) so left them, and had a couple that looked fully clear, or scrambled yolk.
Tomorrow I'll note down how many and which markings are on the "for sure" eggs. I believe all 3 ayam cemani are off to a good start. And one polish mix from a pink egg...
Then it's just keeping track of who keeps going, and looking out for quitters. :)

That darn Truly, now she is showing signs of being colicky, which means I will be up now. I gave her some Bute (pain med), in the off chance she is just really achy with her arthritis.

But she isn’t eating which is always a bad sign with horses.

So here is am having to watch her on the camera for the next hr to see if the pain meds work.

Or if I have to get dressed and go to the barn and walk her all night.

Meanwhile her camera in her stall keeps going down. Sheesh!

The cleared area where I drive up to the barn has about 6” of snow, my niece hasn’t had a chance to drop over with the truck to plow the drive.

As soon as I get out in the backyard or the paddock its way too deep to walk in. The horses walk to the hay hut and back to the barn, and on the south side of the barn. They have a path trodden down on those areas. Yesterday Reenie got down to roll in the deep snow and got stuck! Halfway onto her back! Sheesh! She is easy over 1000lbs to not gonna move her.

Luckily she floundered around enough to get the snow flattened and then was able to scramble up.

Oh look Truly is eating - that horse is going to drive me crazy!

Well I’ll set my alarm for an hr and check her again.

Good night all.

The thumbs up is for the good eggs. I am sorry about the one that got dropped. I had marans eggs in the incubator at one point and omg pretty much impossible to tell what is going on inside the dark eggs.
