She’s such a golden child!
Yep, & if they're thirsty enough w/ no other water source we tap the nipples so the water dribbles. After the hens pecked at the water droplets I kept tapping the nipples so they would keep pecking till I didn't have to tap any more. Every time I went out & tapped the nipples the big hens ran to get drinks. By the 3rd day they were for sure using the nipples. W/ baby chicks we started them on chick nipples so transition to outdoor adult nipple waterers was easy.Peanut butter with scratch or sunflower seeds stuck in it. Adults mastered the switch in 1 day.
Nice closeupCat pictures as promised.

I have been wanting to do this for some time now. I knew once I started doing this there would be no going back. So I am now diving in and I hope you all enjoy coming along for the ride.
First of all let me tell you how we view our flock as that will help you to understand why we treat them like we do.
Our birds are our pets and we treat them as such. We do not care if someone is not laying eggs. They are welcome to stay at Fluffy Butt Acres until they pass naturally. (Now don't go telling them that! I would hate for word to get out) We do thoroughly enjoy the fresh eggs.
I plan to tell stories from the past as well as from today. I hope you all enjoy and will share stories of your flocks as well.
You can carefully repair a cracked beak with superglue. I use the gel kind when I needed to - the other is too runny to get it right and NOT someplace you don't want it on a squirming chicken. Just be sure to not get it in his mouth - don't want him to get 'tongue tied!' LOLMr P
I feel really bad this wee man, he is his own worse enemy. This morning I noted his beak had some blood on it, I figured he had pecked some one or something. The more I stared at it the more I wanted a closer look he seemed to be ‘licking his chops’ with his beak. So I caught him and with my glasses on checked him out. Used my magnifying glass also.
Looks like he has cracked his beak. So between last night when I treated him and this morning he seems to have damaged his beak.

This Roo is going to drive me crazy. I dosed him with some Tylenol and told him he was never getting out of the Summer House ever again.
On the up side Clyde’s breathing is better.
