Good morning all

Spending some lawnchair time again this morning while it’s mild - temps dropping today so need to take advantage of the warm weather.

Cayenne came to check out my cuppa tea.

Yep this is the life 🥰

I wanted to give a update on my uncle before I have to go to work today. Please everyone who has been praying keep praying.

They got the bleeding managed but according to the updates his daughter posted there was some minor trauma to the new lungs. They have kept him in a medically induced coma and have him on ECMO to give those lungs a chance to heal. They weaned him off of sedation some yesterday to see if there was any damage to his brain. He recognized his granddaughter and tracked her with his eyes. That was enough and they knocked him back out. The plan for today according to the last update last night is to take him back in the OR sometime today to remove ECMO and close his chest. I am praying like crazy for him. I have a huge family but he is one of the few remaining uncles that I was actually close to growing up and into my adult life.

Was able to spend some quality lawnchair time with the chooks today.

Yep this is the life 🥰

This right here is a large part of why I love chickens so much. They are always in the moment and remind me of the here and now. When I get lucky enough to spend time and just sit with them, it’s so peaceful and relaxing. I am glad you got to spend some time just sitting with your flock.

Everyone was in the Hen Houses A & B last night, it was very warm. I put Red and the dumplings with Georgie in a couple of nest boxes. It's time they started staying with the herd at night.

Of course it's a pain having to carry them into the Hen House, but with Mr P and his gang I 'herd' them into the Hen House by having them follow the light from my headlamp - it shines a nice spot on the floor that they have learnt to follow.

The Youngsters are still up on the walls (those walls are 6' high - that a good height for those heftier girls to fly up on), Tippy and Mr LC on the Hen House door and the Buff Orps on the front door (they like to enjoy the sunset I guess haha). So I have to turn on the aisle lights, shoo them off the doors and walls then when they are all down I turn off the lights, and have them follow the light from my headlamp into the Hen House for the night. What a pain in the patootie.

Mornings, I take Mr P, Georgie, the dumplings, Marty, Red and Mrs LC and let them roam about while I feed horses and do chores. I can't have the whole flock out it's to much mayhem, they get in the way of the horses and trip me up getting under foot.

Once the horses are outside and stalls mucked out I put Mr P and his little band of brats in the Summer House and let the rest of them out of the Hen House - it's a stampede!

Once everyone one is released to the barn, Fluffy, Curly, Henny Penny and Marty (if I haven't released her earlier) all make their way to the door of the Summer House to be let in with Mr P. They do not like being out with the bad Roosters, I don't blame them.

Right now in the Summer House with Mr P there are: Fluffy, Curly, Henny Penny, Marty, Red, Georgie, the 2 dumplings, and Mrs LC. I had to remove Flopsy as she was tearing into Mr P's head feathers.

Such a pain though keeping them separated - yesterday I had to chase down Laverne 3 times for trying to pick at Mr P's head. I finally caught her and locked her away from him.

I have given up chasing down Tippy and Butterscotch for flying out of the run. They can get back in if they want, I am too tired to chase them down. And Butterscotch the beast flew over the fence into my neighbour's yard yesterday, I did go and chase her back for that.

Such brats and time thieves! The horses meanwhile are behaving.... for now!
This is every day? You do this every day? You must possess super powers to make this happen! My word woman, slow down! You gonna have a health issue.

Yes Alex every day since I was a teen and got my first horse.

My life revolves around crap! Is it any wonder I like to sit on my lawn chair in the warm weather 😉

I’m still praying intently for a speedy recovery and miracles for him. Favorite uncles are hard to come by! :old

And…. This is why everyone here is trained to do as I say! Once they are all trained up they just follow along, makes my job easier! And why I encourage them to hop up on me, be food motivated and not be afraid of me handling them.

I don’t have time to be fighting with them, and imagine if those 1,000lb horses weren’t trained! That would be very dangerous!

Yep having them come to me as opposed to me running after them is way better! Now if I can just get those darn youngsters to go on their own in the Hen House!

I’m sorry that your life is crap. 💩 from where I stand, your life is what you want it to be, and you made it to be. In retrospect, my life comparison is also crap then too! I’m just bored and needed a hobby. Animals became a thing.
