Well, the girls have been moved to their new coop! The oldest ones are 5 weeks, youngest 3 weeks. The weather is VERY warm right now, and they've been without a heat lamp for a week.

Hazel and Jasmine love the new digs.

Here are some updated pictures of the Flower Flock. They're a little less than thrilled to be handled at the moment, but I managed okay! The first four are 6 weeks old, and the last four are 4 weeks old.

Daisy (Buff Orpington)- We had a birthday party for my son on Sunday, and my dad pointed out how tasty she looked! :lau

Poppy (Silver Laced Wyandotte)- She's still the smallest, and I'm honestly a little worried about how little she's grown.

Hazel (Barnevelder)- She's the new boss of the flock.

Ivy (Easter Egger)- I think she's probably the prettiest of the flock! :drool Shed be my favorite, except she took about ten minutes to catch today when her sisters went in with no problem. :barnie

The girls get to have supervised yard visits on a daily basis now. They *mostly* go back in their coop when called, and they get very excited every time I walk out the door. :D My son is my biggest helper with the girls, and loves to share. This morning, he grabbed a tomato straight off the vine, took a huge bite, then fed the rest to the girls. :lau

Two week update on the chicks! Growing like weeds, and now free ranging all day. First four are 8 weeks, and the last four are almost 7 weeks.

Daisy (Buff Orpington)- she actually scratched her beak pretty good this week, but it's healing up nicely!

Ivy (Easter Egger)- It's really hard to tell her apart from her sister Lily. These pictures might be the same chicken for all I know. Lily has muffs, though.

A little update:

First, Hazel is definitely a Partridge Rock! And she laid her first egg yesterday! I now have three layers (Sapphire Gem, Barred Rock, and Partridge Rock) and I'm averaging a dozen a week before Hazel started laying.

The rest of the girls are now squatting, and I have two that are spending a good bit of time in the nesting boxes.
