Hi all! Sorry I’ve been mia again. Love-hate relationship with summer!
I finished my outdoor hutch! ....more than a month ago. But the quailies love it! I’m glad it didn’t take me any longer to move them outside. I forgot how awfully hot it gets in the garage in summer. :hmm...
Every time I catch up on this thread I get caught up in the incubator excitement and want to order eggs so bad!!! But reality usually kicks in before I click the order button :p
I’m in summer survival mode. I miss the wild backyard I grew up in! It would be so much easier to make up interesting...
Finally caught up on here again tonight. Insane week. I am absolutely going to die in a couple of weeks when the kids are done with scoop for the summer. This morning I took them with me on a quick run to the hardware store for a part and they drove me INSANE :barnie:he:hit
Today Perky laid her...
If somebody knows what’s wrong and how to fix it and it isn’t too difficult... it’s been a long week and I’m so exhausted, but I’d feel terrible if I just let it die and the cure turned out to be simple. :hmm
Any ideas what’s going on with this poor baby? :( His crop is HUGE and full of food and water and air. When I picked him up and nudged at it, he threw up a bunch of sludge. It smelled a little bad, but not putrid.
I don’t know how long it’s been happening, but the feathers are rubbed off on the...

By a few days old the previous batch ran away in a panic every time I reached in to refill food and water. :(
Lol!! No worries! I got sidetracked.
I actually stole those marbles from the kids’ failed sea monkeys tank. (The box didn’t say you need the water to be 80° for them to hatch )
But THEY stole the marbles from the game shelf. By the end of the year, those marbles will have been used...
This is the most recent pic without much poop. :sick They sure mess up the brooder faster than the 1-3 I had before!
So my (almost) final count: 16 babies in the brooder (number of the day I guess, lol) and one still in the incubator that I don’t think will make it.
2 died after...
Okay. You prolly mentioned the first layer before. :hmm My brain has more holes than ever lately.
Argh! I’d stop laying if I was harassed by those nasties!
Is she the first of her siblings/batch to lay?
I glanced in the incubator while cooking dinner, made note of where the puffball was hanging out this time, and turned back to the stove... and then realized that I had seen TWO heads on it. WHAT??
Oh. There are two babies now. :p
They seem to be...
