The color is nice, but he has beautiful long legs, square shoulders and a level top line. Nice! I'll bet he's going to be big and square! That's an A+ for mom and dad!

Lockdown is a couple days before eggs hatch. You stop turning the eggs, increase the humidity and leave the incubator closed. All of my eggs hatched. I have a brooder of babies now! I'm excited because these were eggs from my own birds before they started hiding their nests.

I think goosedragon hit the nail on the head. Locking them up seperately at night in their own pen with their own nest should teach each girl where to lay her eggs. Then everyone could free range during the day.

I hate that. I had an egg that seemed to be kicked and rolled by every duck as they hatched. That one never did hatch. Geese are even trickier. They can't shift positions well because of their longer necks.

It's good that she'll have friends. Geese really like their own kind. After rescuing her, you deserve good karma for your turkey hatch!

Do you have any of those hand warmer packets? You can add those for warmth if you lose power. But hopefully you'll keep it on!

I have a gander who thinks he needs a bite of anything I have! Some people have velcro dogs. I have a velcro goose. And that first picture is just hysterical. I looooooove the look on her face.

Earlier this spring I found a nest my guineas had hidden and threw the eggs in the bator. I only have four left was a bout to give up, but yesterday all four pipped! I now have one guinea zooming around the bator and another starting to zip out! Hope everyone has good luck with their hatches!

Sounds like a good situation. Geese love company and if you can't find where she belongs, it sounds like she'll have a good place to go to. Doesn't it make you want geese though?

I'm with the above posters. Those don't look dirty at ALL to me! You should see duck eggs if you want to see a dirty mess. I don't put poopy eggs in the bator, but those just have a little dirt on them. I use a toothbrush sometimes to get the big clumps of mud off.
