Long time since I've checked in. Is anyone a NPIP tester on here? Thoughts? Selling hatching eggs so thought it would be a good idea.
Decorated some eggs for Easter using my guinea feathers. Turned out better than I thought and quite simple.
Back to shoveling
Cheers
Trying to get an idea of what I need to change in my coop for my trio of Peas I'm getting. The roosting bar is a nice rounded edged 2x4 about 4 ft high, but I'm sure I need to move it out from the wall for the Cocks train, how far? I'm thinking 30" or needn't it be that far?
Also, do you agree...
I have been raising and hatching out BCM's now for 3 years. This last batch I hatched out in February has a white one! I have had a few wheatens hatch in the past, but this one is pure White, pretty sure its a rooster, and it shows no signs of any other colors coming in yet!
What the heck?
Must be that time of year, 2 days ago I came home to a hawk eating my adult BCM hen right by the coop, (she had 3 chicks that maybe she was protecting, they were fine), but all the birds are now terrified. Most of them were huddled IN the coop all day. The hawk was not to alarmed when I walked...
Flybabies is TERRIBLE about getting back to you... the gal is really nice, but holds a full time job plus her hatchery... I have gotten some eggs from her, some were a bit mixed if you know what I mean... but other than that I think they are still in business. I went there to pick up my eggs...
It will be well worth it once you get over that hump... I quit sugar and now I don't crave it, although I do sneak in Stevia in my coffee, and also have a diet soda on occasion.
I gave my neighbor 5 chickens of mine Tuesday night after we helped him finish up his coop, all have been free ranging at my place for months...
How long does he need to keep them in the coop/enclosed yard before he can safely let them out and know they will come back to his coop to roost? (4...
Going over to the neighbors tonite to help him work on the old coop on his property... he is taking 4 of my young pullet Olive eggers I was going to sell but told him he can have them if he wanted chickens... he said yes about 3 weeks ago, and am getting anxious to get rid of the extra birds I...
Back to the "egg in a bag"...
By the time I got home and poked around on it, the outside bag/sac/membrane or sausage casing thingy was kind of dried out, there was an egg inside, the shell broke when I tried taking it out, but it had a nice yellow yoke in it... SO... don't know if the outside...
No doubt, beautiful photo, we LOVED Alaska, we are planning on semi retiring there and working in the summer, my hubby wants to clean fish or work on a boat... maybe I will just supervise...
I didn't have time to cut it open this morning before work when I found it, but I can see and feel inside this sac/membrane is a full formed egg, the egg shell is soft to the touch but did not break when I prodded it. I'll do surgery on it when I get home from work, it's sitting in my sink right...
Yikes,
My Penedesenca has been acting poorly last couple of days, just standing under a tree with it's wing drooped, so we caught her last 2 nights and gave her some Tylan, (first night after we caught her she vomited water, before any meds were given), and I noted her poop was just like...
I put a fan in the coop last night... poor chickens... the guineas seem to handle the heat much better... coming from a hotter climate it doesn't surprise me... they only drink half the water the chickens do too.
Can anyone tell me if muscovy ducks will get along with chickens cooped in same...
Had a great vacation up north, hubby caught a nice musky while fishing for crappies, and landed it with 6lb test line. We also have alot of crappies in the freezer now too, going to try again this weekend before they quit biting.
My daughter who lives in CA ran into Clay Matthews in the...
