I have a few gar scales someone gave me when I was a kid. They are like ivory arrowheads.

I would take a stool sample to check for parasites, just to be sure. Love you for the rescue!

I would wait. The general rule of thumb is 90F the first week, dropping by 5F each week. 90 - 5x7 is 90 - 35, which is 55. Not saying they would not survive, but I feel that they are using so much energy growing right now that I would not want them to have to spend extra energy keeping warm.

Ducklings need food with water all day every day. The duckling may be reaching through the bars of a cage. Please read and follow the guidelines in the Sticky of Raising Ducklings. It is in the Stickies for Duck Forum. See the blue link at the top of the Duck Forum index.

Looks like an eye, sinus infection. I would go to a good duck vet. I think he needs antibiotics. There are eye drops - don't rule out sinus infection. Drops won't fix that, as far as I know.

I am not sure what you are saying here...not to let them drink till they get sick? As I took each duckling out of their transport box, I dipped their bill in a cup of lukewarm water. Their waterer was filled with room temperature water and they were fine.

Hi! My Runners seem to prefer an open corner over a box. They have used boxes for a time, then abandoned them (and I did clean them out). I attach 2'x2' plywood panels at a 90 degree angle to the wall of the shelter, making two corners. They build their own nests in there when they want...

When one believes the duck has ingested a poison or toxin, one strategy is to move the contents of the digestive tract out as soon as possible. Laxatives help do that. One also needs to provide support to prevent dehydration and electrolyte imbalance, and a charcoal slurry follows to absorb...

My guess is Runner X Pekin. Pekins crossed with darker ducks can have bibs. And @Ren2014, I feel your girls are hiding, since they know something is not right. More prayers.

@Ren2014 My first thought was toxins - definitely would get the charcoal slurry going. Electrolytes would be a good follow-up, since the laxative (Epsom salt) can - I am told - create an imbalance. I think if you keep them hydrated you are doing well, and maybe a tiny bit of ACV in the...

I think there could be a few things going on . . . I am not a network guy, so take this with a few grains of salt. But some internet access setups have addresses (those numeric strings 999 999 9999) that can change, and we used to have trouble with Frontier because of that. I would be in the...
