Just saw the pics of these birds, and you may be expecting to much. Cock has no middle toe feathering, even if he had in the past, he doesn't at present and you are selling him in his current condition. Hen has tiny crest, not much bigger than a hatchery bird. Again you are selling them as they...

The Cushion on a silkie is the big fluffy butt, (Hence the term, more cushion for the pushin) found on the back end of the bird! aka the Badonkadonk!

Quote: Welcome to the wonderful world of silkies! lol I find that letting the breeder hens ruin thier hairdo's works best for me, once their feathers get nasty & fall out during molt, which is now, by the time they grow back in, the weather has changed. The girls actually do better with...

Quote: I get a few every winter that do this, they get their heads wet, then a feather sticks to the eye & irritate the eye. Also the cold doesn't help. A little Visine drops in the eye usually clears it up in a few days, or you can put terrimycin eye ointment. It clears them up & they are...

Quote: I would not think she is a paint just from that little spot of black feathering. A white bird will sometimes get a little bit of black ticking. It can be common in white Cochins and I have seen it in silkies. Just my opinion based on my experience. One spot does not make a paint, the...

Quote: Not a lavender. Is that because they are not sometimes born with chipmonk markings? Lavenders can have a light striping when born, BUT the Lavender will be a solid color throughout. What you have appears to be POSSIBLY a columbian patterned, or a silver partridge colored bird. Hard to...

Thanks These birds had the correct makeup to make the Salmons, not an easy 1 + 1 breeding! I have had so many people want to make their own, but they don't realize that you just can make them, without the specific genetic background of the parent birds.

Quote: Ok that is what I thought reading your post. I have Salmon silkies, that are not crossbred, but pure silkie. The color can be made using the genetics in purebred silkies, without crossing. I went back & found a post of yours saying that the father of the hen was Lavender, if so she...

Quote: Do you have a pic of your Salmon cock, & is he a crossbred or pure silkie, asking because I see you also breed Faverolles? Dad was salmon faverolle, mom was the 'salmon/blue buff/ light blue part. hen shown a page or so back All silkie charactoristics except feathers...only a few of...

Quote: TY Silver, a lot of great info. I will take pics of the boy/cockeral and post. Dispite his "mixed heritage", he's a very sweet and pretty fellow I've thought about Salmon Silkies (and that's been as far as it's gone) until this guy came along...now I'm REALLY thinking go ahead and...
