You have your heart in the rigt place, wanting the hatcheries to right their wrongs. But they don't care. I know some who have written them and I know a lot more. If you have seen hatchery stock of any breed you know they are in it for the money and not the quality or closeness to the SOP. Since...
Only blue wheaten, wheaten, and splash wheatens should be bred together. All offspring will be pure colors. (Splash wheaten isn't yet accepted).
The color situation regarding what nonstandard colors should be called is highly debated. Some say that if a pure white is crossed with a pure blue...
Oh I see. I have a production red (she is a great broody) that has feathers like that but hers are much worse. I guess you could alaeays do some test breeding but I personal would just move on with a different bird
Whenever they fix me internet so that I can use my computer instead of my phone all the time I can post a few pictures. But I only have pictures of chicks and then those chicks progressing and they all have two copies of the beard gene so I won't have anything to compare to, but it maybe of a...
Here are some pictures of my birds at the Ohio Nationals. I realized that I am very bad at taking pictures (especially at bad times), so I am going to start making the birds pose for them in hopes of some better pictures. Pullets and a cockerel
Some very young black pullets I...
When it comes to blue, the shade is on personal preferences. Dark or light. I personally like darker blues. I think she looks beautiful. I would have to handle her in person to be able to tell I I would use her for breeding or not. She looks nice, but she is kind f hunched down in this picture...
I bought a nicer laced (for an Ameraucana) Pullet not too long ago. She has much nicer lacing then any of my other blues(they hve scent edging) but she lacks in everything else; Body type (I am still holding out a little hope of her shaping up since she is very young), sparse beard and muffs...
It means from a black to black breeding. I don't know for how man generations though. When I buy blacks now that is one f the first thing I ask. As well for y blues I want them from blue I blue breedings. You don't have to have a black cockerel. You can use blue if you want-all is up to you.
If you were to breed a blue and a wheaten together you would get an unaccepted color. I do not breed wheatens, but I do believe if you put blue wheaten where the blue is, wheaten were the black is, and splash wheaten where the splash is you will see there outcomes. In the end no you should not...
I am sorry to hear about the Pullet with internal laying. I have only had that happen once and luckily I wasn't very close to her but I still felt awfully bad for her.
I don't use lighting, nor will I start. I wait until they are good and ready. I just posted when mine started Laying because...
