    It's the Lavender gene. That directly affects the feather quality. I've noticed that it's more pronounced the older the feathers are. Mine look worse closer to molt.

    My silkie is always happy to adopt chicks. She is finished with the babies I gave her earlier this Spring. It's good 1 chick is eating, hopefully the 2nd one starts from watching. @BY Bob and I have been in contact and I'm available to help in any way possible.
