And yeah... about the leg... I am also going to go with mites in the very early stages. You can see the lifting of the scales. You don't really see the leg mites. As much as vaseline is good for smothering them, if you use scarlet oil instead, you'll also soften the scales and improve the...

The milk crates might look small, but I'll tell ya, my birds love their milk crate. Yeah, just one, and it is open side up between two other tote box nests. But, its not been used as a roost. We are looking at a heat wave here this week. Gonna have a quick melt and rain, and I fear a swamp...

This is the cockerel that didn't EVER develop any black next to a boy the same age. They were both brothers, same mom and dad... SO... I am assuming it was just a glitch in the gene pool. The boy in question had another two other brothers that found homes with other families looking to breed...

lindz... Sam Favs... Pro's... They are really seriously laid back birds. If you hand rear them, you'll have very people friendly birds. If you broody raise them, you will have more skittish birds when it comes to petting. They all come running though when treats are to be had, get in the way...

Ben... Florus didn't crow till he was dang near 8 months old. He's not even a very loud or obnoxious crower now... unless all the birds get going... His brother, Mr. Feathers, I gave him away along with my polish when he was about 7 months, and he didn't start crowing at his new home till he was...

I hate losing birds to heat stroke. Not this summer past, but the one before, lost several birds to heat stroke, or the after effects. Kidney/liver failure... it's horrible. And that year was the first year hosing/misting, frozen fruits, lots of melon and grapes. This summer past I learned...

H, we weathered that winter storm well. No birds were lost to the cold. The phoenix even did well. I let them out of their run today, and they headed straight to the big run to hang with the other birds. If Rod Stewart and Florus wouldn't hurt Gainborough, I'd leave them all together... BUT...
