    Silkies - They’re simply SPECTACULAR!

I had a silkie chick who was mainly gray and then feathered in white. This leads me to think she was recessive white. Here's a pic of what she looked like as a chick and as an adult.

    Silkies - They’re simply SPECTACULAR!

I have a question; so in my recent silkie hatches I've been able to mark the eggs I put in the incubator by which hen laid them. My problem I'm noticing is that one of my blue silkies, Jewel, is not having any fertilized eggs. I don't think there's too much fluff back there because even when she...

    Silkies - They’re simply SPECTACULAR!

I have a semi-emergency question, I went out to check my broody's eggs and I found one partially cracked. It is due to hatch Tuesday so it doesn't have that many days left. I don't even know how it got cracked unless it hit something hard in the coop. Is there anything I can do or just hope for...

Oh no! Definitely don't give up, you've worked too hard and you have such wonderful silkies. Hopefully you can find what's causing trouble so no more chickens are lost. :hugs

    Silkies - They’re simply SPECTACULAR!

I now have a breeding color question...so I'm hoping to get some mottled chicks soon but I was curious what would I get if the hens are mottled and the roosters either partridge or buff.🤔

    Silkies - They’re simply SPECTACULAR!

One of the roosters appears to be paint the other one I'm not sure off the top of my head. To get paint you will need a dominant white silkie crossed with a solid black silkie. Knowing if you have a dominant or recessive white silkie can be hard just by looking at them but getting a better idea...

They might still lay but not as much as you probably want for breeding. I would wait for some younger ones to become available. 😊
