Yea same here. And as often as it gets open... I just hatched some Dark Cornish in hopes of getting a better breed of them. Last batch had every comb known to the chicken world. Well almost every one.

Yes testing is imperative. :lau I've had real good success with refrigerated eggs. They will do fine. Did you check the temp of fridge at egg level?

Saw a bumper sticker the other day. It read. " your psychologist called me, he said he found your mind" my first thought was why would he call you and my second thought was I never told him about the chickens. :lau

Glad she's cooperating. My green eggs are fertile from the NN. Forgot my candler in the barn so I can't tell too well on the others but from the flashlight I was able to use I could see life in quite a few of the rest as well. It's really stormy out right now I'll have to remember to bring...

All three original hens are laying a white egg. Their offspring which was crossed with CCL is laying some what green blue. 7 of 11 hatched with the store bought ones. I dropped one as I hit the hot elements going into incubator. The NN rooster the offspring is with looks more like a Rhode Island...

Actually the leghorn hen is a Trader Joe's hen so I'm not sure of mix except she's very leghorn looking. Off spring of the CCL leghorn mix looks same except they have black specs here and there. She was put in with NN roosters due to no other place to put her and she was same size but older at...

Thanks. I did check on the neck feathers. . He's down to one and his brother has two maybe three. No attempt to pick either up yet. Stirs up too much dust.

I was wondering if they could lose some. After checking as closely as I could while feeding this am it looked as if he had fewer if any. I'll check tonight when I have more time if I get home before it's too dark

Thank you I'll try and catch him although the days of getting even close to him are over. There's a hen that's friendly but has never let me pick her up. Doing so might get the attention of the rooster. I'll see if I can first look closer before picking up. Nice job of processing.

Thanks. So here's rooster pic. M&M variety Any hopes for him he does have 4-5 feathers on his neck. I guess I was thinking they would have less feathers on rest of body as well. I haven't inspected him that closely as he's getting a little protective of the hens and doesn't care for me getting...

X2. I don't have a FB account for pretty much the same reasons. Lol Also another question about the amount of feathers a NN should have. My NN roosters look more like RIR without neck feathers. I was hoping they would have less feathers than that. Are there different breeds of them with less...

Hello Draye. I'm still in a molt with mine as well. Pushing protein in the form of dog food to see if it helps. One coop had started eating eggs. Today is the first day to come home to eggs in the coop. Maybe extra protein is helping them jury still out on that one. Frustrating as I can't find...
