Yes, no bullseye. I haven't witnessed any breeding. I had them out for 6 hrs today. Never saw any action. That's probably the problem. I need to turn on the romantic music

I need yall's help. I have a black roo and 4 paint hens and 1 black hen. The roo and 1 hen are the parents to the others and are about 3 yrs old. All the eggs laid since February have been infertile. I have groomed and trimmed butt feathers, given plenty of greens and protein. I do let them free...

A couple ideas for nest boxes are you can take the door off a pet carrier and set it in the floor where they like to sleep. Put straw, hay or wood shavings inside. Or use a tote with the lid on, turn upside down and cut a hole as low as you can for them to go inside. Or you can set it on it's...

    Silkie thread!

I got into silkies several years ago. In my area, silkies aren't really in big demand. These people want laying hens not pretty fluffy pets. Silkies are good to keep around to use them as incubators. They go broody several times a year. They aren't reliable layers and their eggs are small. You...

I've got bad news about Sparrow. Yesterday she was doing great. Eatnig and drinking on her own. I decided to sleep in this morning and when I got up she was wedged between her waterer and cage wall. I pulled her out and she curled up like a pig tail. I put her in a towel after I straightened her...

These pictures are the best ones I have that you can see the feathers. These are sizzles. The feathers are flat and curled. Frizzled silkies have the same curling except the feathers are shredded. This is a frizzled silkie roo. The feathers are curled and shredded like silkies feathers. Hope...

As far as heat goes for silkies I wouldn't use any heat excpt for young birds. I use the standard clamp on lamp. But I wire it to a board so it won't fall off and start a fire. I also put wire mesh over the wide open end the bulb is in. That way if some reason it gets broken or the bulb falls...
