Hi everyone,
I’ve just joined your community and wanted to introduce myself if that’s okay?
I’m so new to chickens that I don’t actually have them yet... we’re rescuing 6-8 ex-battery hens here in the UK in the next month or so but first I need to get everything ready for them.
I’m...
I’ve been trying to introduce my dogs to my geese and chickens. My one dog, a Boston Terrier, named Dozer is scared of the geese and chicks. But my geese will still go up to him and try to pick a fight, I think they even have struck out at him. He barely wants to go outside anymore. He pooped in...
Me and my husband are new to chickens.
We started in this March and we have 30+ chickens, 10+ quails & 20+ ducks now.
We have silkies, ameraucanas, brahmas, buckeyes, plymouth rocks, orpintons and leghorns. Quails are all California quails. Ducks we don’t know much but at least 4-5 different...
Dogs killed 18 chickens inside the serf Last night the dogs entered the chicken coop and killed all the chickens (only 3 chickens remain) I forgot the door is open and this result of the stray dogs 😪
Post pictures of your mixed breed dogs and I (and/or others) can try to guess them. :D
I’m pretty good with dog breeds so I think I’m usually pretty good at these things and I like guessing haha
If you have a tricky purebred I could try to guess too.
Let’s see those Border Collies!!!
I know there have been other similar threads featuring all herding breeds, etc. and I do love all the herding breeds myself but wanted to create a Border Collie specific one this time as they’re such cool dogs. :love
I didn’t see one specifically for Border...
I am very new to having chickens, I got mine about 3 weeks ago. I have 20 birds total: 3 adult Rhode Island reds, 5 Rhode Island chicks, 5 Golden Comet chicks, 5 Australorp chicks, and 2 ducklings. So far, I love building things for them, converted a shed to be a coop, built perches, toys, among...
Sorry, this is long. It requires some background.
BACKGROUND:
I live in Washington State, in an unincorporated rural area 10 miles outside of Vancouver. I live with my boyfriend on a 9 acre property with 2 homes on it. The property is owned by my boyfriend's grandparents. They live in...
Well, I’m Charlie. I currently have 11 chicks. It’s my first time taking care of chickens on my own.
Only one of them has a name right now, and her name is Melvin. Though to be quite honest I don’t even know what breed she is...
I have a Yorkie named Romeo, a Maltese mix named Faith, a Shihtzu...
Hey guys! I've been seeing stuff about this lately, and I was wondering if anyone has tried it?
Supposedly putting dog hair in your nests can ward off predetors because they hate the smell.
Does anyone know if this works?
:)

Surely we all must dream about various dog breeds and all the dogs we would have if we could, right? That might just be me. :lau :hide
But I know that for me personally, I am always researching and dreaming about dog breeds and if I could have every breed of dog, I probably would. :lau :hide
I...
I have never had to deal with this before...we adopted Duchess from a shelter 6 months ago. She was given a heartworm test there and it was negative. I was advised upon adoption that they would cover her treatment if we retested in 6 months. Well today I took her in for her blood work. I...
Hi all!
Everyone in my family has been incredibly sad due to the loss of our favorite chicken Raven. Our favorite chicken was killed by a hawk yesterday..and our duck Judy was killed by a hawk around May this year. We are looking for a puppy we could train as a livestock guardian dog, as well...
It was my Grandpa who started me down the road with a love for chickens. When I was five years old, he gave me my own little Bantam flock. However, along came grown-up life and for many years the thought of owning chickens did not cross my mind. Then early Spring last year I happened to be in...
