There are so many Silkie varieties experimented by breeders nowadays that are not SOP ~ Dark Partridge, Red, Cuckoo, Blue Cuckoo, Buff Partridge, Porcelain, Moorhead, etc etc...Oh my goodness, you are so lucky. Red Barn silkies are soo hard to come by as they have limited availability. I stalk their facebook page and I promise you they are high quality and you will have 2 beauties in a few months time. The Partridge chick that may turn black, I may be wrong on but they could end up looking like 2 of mine. I had 2 chipmunk chicks hatch out last spring.
This is how they both look now. Black with a even distribution of brown feathering throughout.

Is it your only chick? I suggest you have at the very least two chooks. Chooks (or chickens) are social animals and need the company of their own kind.Hey all! First time follower of this thread and I was recommended to ask a breed query here for all your wisdom. Thanks in advance! I bought this chick at my local Wilco Farm Store here in WA as a Delaware but it’s not feathering out as expected. We think maybe it’s a white leghorn pullet? A bit disappointed cause that’s not the breed we chose and she’s a BOSSY giant chick, seriously bold and pecky. 5 weeks old, comb is larger but mostly yellow with yellow legs and pure white feathers. Hint of pink wattle on the chin and not a speck of black or smut/barring. What do your experienced eyes see? Cockerel? Breed? TY![]()
