No more quail to set but I did set 14 black copper marans. The quail are almost feathered except the head. I'm lowering the temp and will soon go outside.

Didn't read that there was a open container. Sponge in a dish where sponge covers all the dish works fine.

You can leave them in there ther are good for at least 12 to 14 hours no harm in letting them set. More damage could be done by opening it up.

All of mine are doing well. Just put them on shavings. They are funny carrying pieces of it around chasing each other. I'm going to cull 1 at the end of this week he has a goofy neck. But he won't go to waste I will feed him to my other bird. Been gone a day or 2 and wow have 250 posts to go...

Thanks. There is a guy I work with that talked to his brother in law. He wants to get out of quail and stick to just chickens. So this weekend I may have a insta covey of quail.

That's is what has me worried the thermometer I was using was calabrated and was with a 1/2 degree of the setting on the bator. Dont know.

Nothing to be sorry about. Over a 50% hatch rate of fertile eggs on shipped eggs. I dont think it's to bad.

Alright quail hatch is done set 30. 14 fertile and 8 hatched. 1 did have a crooked neck it will be culled.

I will be building one also maybe this weekend. A cabinet style incubator and a hatcher
