Hey guys, I'm popping in again, flock is doing good, had five chicks hatch this summer because we wanted to keep numbers down. I've had my hands full this summer tho. Lots of things happening at home, least of which is that my horse needs a $4,000 surgery at Cornell. I don't think I've spent...
Hey guys, I moved out of my mother In laws house, we are on a farm now and have no internet. Everyone is doing good, today the landlords dog brought a live and unharmed turkey hatchling. He took us to the nest and we found one live and three dead babies. They are tame turkeys, the hen came from...
Anyone interested in some Easter Egger chicks? 6 weeks old likely three hens and two roosters going by their feathering. Mostly mixes of black and white, two Roos have red wings and chests. Duane is the Roo so likely to become nice size birds very fast and lay blue/green/possibly olive eggs.
Anyone know of any houses for rent or rent to own around Syracuse and the surrounding areas? Even Bridgeport, Canastota and Kirkville are good. I'm going to have to move in the coming months. :-(
Went out to the coop to collect eggs and the falcon was overhead! I waved my shovel at it and yelled. Dogs didn't seem bothered however I am. The snowfall has caused my overhang that I built to sag a bit and my overhead fencing has some gaps now. I need a good thaw so that I can fix everything...
Has anyone heard about the farmers market opening up in Fayetteville on Thursdays? There was an article about it in Eagle Bulletin this week.

Looks interesting, nice to not have to go all the way downtown and fight parking (I could ride...
I had to finally put the chick with the leg problem down. The hock was deformed and facing the wrong way and the more the chick grew the easier it was to see there was no fixing what was wrong. The reason the leg was out to the side was because the chick couldn't actually bend it to hold it...
The weird thing though is that two days ago the leg was under the chick, and the club foot was the biggest problem. The splay is a new development. The chick would favor the leg, but it wasn't anything as bad as this. I didn't even help this one out of the egg, this is one of the ones who got...
I think I need to euthanize one of the chicks from my hatch last week, but I wanted to stop in here and talk to everyone first. The leg is getting worse, the problem isn't just the club foot anymore the hock seems to be large and abnormal and the hip seems almost as if it's dislocated. The chick...
How do I know if a chick is blind? Backasswards's eyes looks wrong to me. Tomorrow I'll try to get some good photos in natural light of this chick but the eyes are solid black, which could be genetic. One of the EE's whom I hatched from has solid black Silkie like eyes and that could be the hen...
Thought that the last two eggs were goners, haven't heard a peep from them and the others hatched Monday. First one egg was clearly dead, grabbed the second one out of the carton and there was a beak. It's upside down though. I removed some shell on impulse which in hindsight was probably a bad...
