    Moving

We are going to be moving soon. The property we bought has been empty for at least 5 months. At some point in time who ever lived there had chickens. The chicken coop is still there. The chickens must of been free range because there is no evidence of a run any where. I know that if I am going...

    Hens or Roosters

They are about 14 weeks old. And I believe that they are either Production Reds or Red Sex Links. I have looked at every picture I can find of both breeds along with pictures of RIR and NHR and to me they look like all 4 breeds. Thats why I dont know for sure what breed they are. But we got them...

    Totally confused

Thought I had this all figured out. After reading about the different breeds I had pretty much decided that these were either production red or red sex link. Today, however I was again looking at the RIR, NHR, RSL, and PR's breeds and there are pictures in all 4 breeds that look an awful lot...

    Hatcheries or breeders

Does anyone know if there are any hatcheries or breeders around the Columbia City - Fort Wayne area? Would like to get some chicks in future that are most likely not going to be available at farm store or co-op and I really don't like the idea of getting them through the mail. Some of the breeds...

    Farm Stores, Co-OPS vs. Hatcheries

Just wondering what the opinion is on buying from a farm store (tsc, big r, etc.) vs. ordering from a hatchery. Also can anyone tell me if the chicks you buy at the farm stores and co-ops are pure bred. I'm very new at raising chickens and don't know much about it and didn't pay attention to any...

Updated photos plus a couple new ones

I'm hoping everyone still agrees with original thoughts on breed and gender of my babies. But I thought I would post some updated photos to see if the thoughts are still the same or if there are any additional thoughts about them. Plus I added a couple new ones that I hope some one might have...

    Mating

I have only had chickens for a couple of months now, so I still have a lot to learn. My question is can a bantam rooster mate with a large breed hen? If so, will the chickens be large size chickens, bantam chickens or somewhere in between? Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Can anyone help me?

I'm new to raising chickens and there are a lot of things I didn't think about when we purchased these chicks. Like what breed they were and what sex they are. They were so fluffy and cute I would have brought everyone of them home with me from the store with me if I could. Alas, I couldn't so I...

    Hello from Indiana

I am a new member to this site and to raising chickens. I was hoping that I could get some help in identifying what breeds of chickens that we have. I have to be honest when we first got the chicks, I regrettably didn't find out what breeds we got. At the time my only thought about chickens were...
