Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

No idea. It might be Meanie or Goldie. I doubt very much it's Eenie. I really thought, "4 little hens, what could go wrong?" Shows me.

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

I was reading to catch up and saw your awful news. I'm so sorry. :hugs She's moved. The coops are side by side, so when everyone is out they can all see each other. It's the best I can do.

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Gosh we got rid of both roos a while back! At least two months ago. She wasn't nearly that bare even a few days ago. I thought she was looking better. I separated her from the others for now. I don't have any blue spray or saddles. The spray I have is clear and I didn't figure I'd need saddles...

No roosters! I rehomed both because I thought they were the problem.

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

So we went out and got better a look. Lots of the feathers appear to be broken off. Almost like they were cut.

Completely normal. Does this look like a moult? The others never got this naked!

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Hey all! Life just isn't allowing me to do much more than lurk these days. I keep popping on and trying to read a bit...but you folks all know hour fast this thread moves. Hope all is well. We're pretty good here...except poor Sheba. She just can't catch a break. I've decided that I badly...

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Hey folks! Doing a fly-by. I've just had so much going on and really, nothing much going on with the chooks...comes from only having 4 I suppose. But all the ladies seem happy and healthy. We have a little power struggle going on. Goldie seems to think she can work her way up onto the top...

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

I heard from Randy's new chicken tender. He's happy. :)

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

It's really hard to say. She looks pretty bedraggled all over, much like the other girls did when moulting, and she's stopped laying. She hasn't had a moult yet either. She's not one to let me catch her. I'm just glad she seems okay.

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Stupid question, but not real chickens...right? That red can't be natural. Took the chooks some yum...baked chicken last night and all the yummy grease soaked up into bits protein wrap (which I bought to be healthy, but were gross) with potatoes and the uneaten chicken ... a cannibal treat...

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Greetings chicken tenders! Hope all are well. Love seeing everyone's lovely flocks. Sheba seems fine, bedraggled as she is. Tomorrow I'll give them another delicious high-protein (cannibalistic) treat. We're still getting an egg almost daily, just none from Sheba. It's good she's taking a break.

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Thanks everyone! I appreciate the input. That poor hen. First she was apparently sore from Manny's attentions and no sooner was she starting to grow feathers back when Randy got...well, randy. It was super cold last week; below zero. I'll keep a close eye on her. Hopefully no one will pick on...

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

What on earth is wrong with Sheba now? First, I apologize. Seems like I only post problems. After Randy was rehomed last week I came down with the flu and was pretty out of commission. My husband has done all the chicken tending in until today, and he's not very observant. He doesn't get in...

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

It's a balmy 10° in sorta SW MO. I did another VERY quick run out to the coop and shut the pop door. Low and behold, all 4 ladies on the top roost. Tomorrow it's supposed to be above freezing! Praise be!

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Glad you're being checked out. I once did a stress test AND a cardiac cath only to find out I had acid reflux. 🙃 I'd do it again rather than take the chance. I forgot to take my phone when I went to the coop today and I'm not going back until it's time to close the pop door. It's 🥶 out there...

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Randy has gone to his new home. The lady who came was about my age and a self-described "crazy chicken lady". We determined only one of those would come get a rooster at 8 p.m. in 3° weather. She texted on the way home with him that he was being quiet as a mouse in the box I stuffed him in...

I understand. He was going one way or the other. Glad we got this way.

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Happy Monday, my fellow chicken tenders! I have no mugs to share, but here's my sub-zero flock. Or, part of them at least. I took this pic yesterday and thought, "Where's Sheba?" I went in the coop...no Sheba. I looked out the window, thinking maybe we were playing tag. No Sheba. I finally...

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Update...10 a.m., Sheba was on the top roost looking pretty bedraggled. Everyone else was milling about. I gave them some crumbled protein wraps and all seemed well. It actually wasn't that bad out, the wind isn't blowing and the run is good and dry so I let them out. It's not any warmer indoors...
