I've also used vetericyn on a bumble with gauze and vet wrap to keep it attached. Can be tricky on a ducks foot because of the webbing.

look for big a scab on the bottom of the foot that would be the source of infection. Hard to see an old wound in the picture tho, any incidence that would have broken a toe? Does your duck fly? Mine take some pretty hard hits on landings and seem to weather it fine. If it is bumblefoot your on...

They stay pretty isolated, never really see more than one or two at a time out here and they're 100s of feet apart. Still one or two would be enough to do some damage to a small duck or duckling.

this is all very thorough and good advice. I swear by vetericyn for open wounds. My wood duck took some serious damage to her chest as well as a few scrapes on head and back, from an unknown late one night. Kept it clean and sprayed and wrapped and gave her clean water to bath in several times...

Such a sad note paired with so many positive introductions into the world. This time last year I was dealing with some predator issues and it always sucks no matter what. I'm sorry for the loss, I also dread the day I have to make that choice with my dog, he's like one of the kids you know...

Currently no, there's a drain at the bottom with a valve out the back side, I have two large submersible pumps that I'm planning on incorporating into a water fall but that's later. It's been over a year since I dug out the small hole that is now a giant cement puddle and I imagine I'll spend at...

Lawnmower had to be awful. It kinda crazy how many people I've run across that have lost a fingertip or two. I love building stuff for the birds, its pretty much a hobby and my downfall:) Attimus

I use gamebird flight conditioner to help mine through their molt. Always seems like a ducks molt is harder than a chickens, even tho my chickens can look awful during, it just seems more painful for ducks. Attimus

Storey's guide to ducks recommends misting from day 4 to 26 with 100° tap water. I'm certain there are more here with hands on experience. Attimus

OK so that just happened. Can't believe I was just talking about this but some friends are over and a close step by one of them caused her to do just this. Better give her some treats to reinforce the idea of it. Attimus
