If you look through my pics I have my set up. I used a kiddie pool and put wire around it to keep them in. It work for 4 till they were just under 6 weeks. I also took them outside quite a bit. I then switched them to my kids large kiddie pool that had the slide attached and they only went...
I get nutritional yeast from the bulk health food section at the grocery store. Also look in the vitamin/supplement area it's not with the baking stuff. It's popular among vegaterian th help get enough b vitamins. I feed mine crumble right away as well and don't do any sugar water. Just...
I'm quite aware they are chicks not ducks, but I don't believe that what you are saying is true at all. Chicks hatched by a hen eat bugs, grass and grit as soon as they walk out of the coop. So there is just no logic in saying they cannot have anything but chick starter for the first few...
You don't. Just get a food that both can eat. Ducks and chickens basically eat the same thing anyway. All my ducks and chickens eat later pellets. When they were babies they all go chick starter and then maintenance grower/finisher (15% protein) till they went on layer.
Try spaghetti noodles. They think they are worms, lol. Just offer grit if you are offering anything other than commercial feed. My chickens like meat and berries way more than greens. Try a strawberry too.
Adorable! I find my chickens to be easier than the ducks. Good thing I got my ducks first, lol! Chickens are really, really bad at pecking sores so get the wing wrapped up quickly and that should help with the pecking too. Chickens will happily peck eachother to death if they see something...
I have no idea but you might have better luck posting the the goose area https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/47/geese
They sure are pretty! @Miss Lydia @jtn42248
The one in the middle looks like a Swedish and the other two look like KC. Maybe a Rouen in the back I can't tell. I don't know of any hatcheries that sell Muscovies. Where did they come from? Can you take a pic of their bills? @Miss Lydia what are your thoughts?
Did she molt this year? All but 2 of my ducks molted this year and there is a stark difference between them. They are all healthy but the crispy feathered girls really need to molt! They look rough.
KC are supposedly one of the best egg producers. Hybrids are really the way to go if you must have eggs like the white and golden layers. If you get good quality runners they are also good egg producers. Larger birds like pekins and Rouens take much longer to start to lay and mallards lay...
