Mine are on flock raiser just so that I can feed the same thing to everyone. It's 18-20% protein, but because their feed is moderated, it didn't make a difference in their growth pattern, and no angel wings either!
Is it big all the time? Or just after eating? It could just be a full crop. I have a jumbo pekin, which are VERY easy to overfeed, and have to be kept on a strict diet, but I don't think normal Perkins have that issue.
Marigolds are fine! Here's a list others that work well. http://whatscookingamerica.net/EdibleFlowers/EdibleFlowersMain.htm
1. Sword Ferns - tried it don't like it. They love to root underneath it though. Good bugs hide there!
2. Foxglove - tried it, spit it right back out.
3. Oregano -...
A fox maybe? A raccoon could too. They're known to wring the necks. Depending on the size of the bird, it could have been an eagle, they can pick something up pretty cleanly
Ah, I love newfies. I have a Bernese, and he's just too curious, doesn't want to hurt them, but would crush them under his nose sniffing them all over. Lol
Anyone know when Pekins Usually start to lay? I bought mine at the end of April and need to know if they'll start laying before winter.
How cute! On a different note, is that a NEWFIE?
