It showed up out of nowhere and ended up squeezing into my Turkey pen back in mid-Feb. I have no close neighbors, so I have NO idea how this bird found it's way here. When I found it it looked like it was maybe 2 weeks old, tops, so I'm figuring it's somewhere around 4.5-5 months old now. Hasn't...
See the White speckles? There's a few of these in the center of the lower area of my adult IB Peacock's saddle, right above the area where the first small/short train feathers with eyes start to grow from (this is just the tip of the feather).
He's supposedly carrying at least 1 Pied gene and...
Just curious what he is, since he looks so different from my IB boy.
He and 10 or so of his buddies have been hanging around schmoozing with my breeding flock and flock of yearlings (they want my Hens, and scream about it all night long from the tree tops!!!). No idea where the flock of loose...
I just hatched these little guys over the past couple of days... I noticed 2 of them have darker heads, and 2 have lighter heads. One of the lighter headed chicks has hardly any markings on it's head at all. I'm new to Quail, so just curious if anyone can tell me what the differences mean,or if...
The egg on the left? It's shaped similar to a Guinea egg, but it's considerably bigger than most of the double yolker Guinea eggs I've collected from my flocks in the past.
The egg in the middle is an average sized Guinea egg, the egg on the right it a possible double yolker Guinea egg...
Thought I'd share some pics that I took today while the sun was out...
She was hatched and raised with Guineas 2 yrs ago... she doesn't know she's a Turkey (She bosses them around and breaks up fights)
She kept looking up at the sky, there was a vulture or buzzard and a red...
... And I really feel bad for doing it
I put numbered wing bands on 3 that I am keeping - Uh huh, I basically body pierced my poor babies, thru the web of skin on their left wing !!! It did not feel good to them... they did not bleed or anything, but they cried when I did it so I'm really...

Gorgeous Mixed Light and Dark Colors and LOTS of Mixed Pieds
***CA sales/shipping only, but the cost is less for local pick-up***
Eggs are collected 3X daily from 2 beautiful healthy flocks. I'm hatching Pearl Greys & Pied Pearl Greys, Lavenders & Pied...
All 23 keets from Batch #2, A whole bucket of cuteness! (This is where they go while I clean their brooder, into a big tall 5 gallon bucket, lol).
An assortment of 7 of the different colors in this hatch
Took out a few more, still plenty of cuteness!
I think this keet is a Blonde! Way...
...and not have major hatching withdrawals??? I CAN'T!!!
This is from last year...and it makes me nutty to watch it, lol.
I have to wait until the 8th to see my 1st 2012 hatch, ugh!
ETA... This lil guy is a Pied Pearl Grey
Not sure if this tiny little egg is just a fluke from one of my 2011 Guinea pullets, or if it's officially the start of the laying season around here. Normally I do not get any intermittent eggs from my flocks. (Oh boy if it IS the start of the season tho... I'll be starting the incubator 3...
My poor 29 yr old Arab mare couldn't even eat her breakfast in peace this morning, lol. The old girl was swarmed by about 8 of my 12 free rangers (who of course already HAD their breakfast!). She was gettin' pretty cranky about them pestering her and ended up walking off to sulk
No way would...
Is there anyway to tell the approximate age of IB Peafowl?
I just recently got 2 "new to me" birds... an IB Peacock that could be 1 yr old, or 2 yrs old, (we aren't sure), and an "older" IB Peahen that I have no idea about... I was told she is possibly 5-6 yrs old. Just curious if there's a...
I just got her today, (free) and she looks horrible (wet, poopy and messy feathers) and is now in quarantine... with some healthy feed, electrolytes and a heat lamp. She's been wild, completely free range for at least a year, needless to say she was not at all easy to catch
She has a very...
...you get some positive feedback later on down the road from someone you have sold Guineas or keets to?
A while back a lady in my area contacted me looking for an adult male Guinea companion for her lone Guinea who had recently lost his buddy. I did not have any adults at the time, so I set...
Sigh... The end is near
I disinfected and put away all but one incubator and one hatcher a little while back, (man that took some MAJOR willpower on my part, lol) and I just put the last batch of eggs in the remaining still set-up hatcher this morning. So in a few days I will officially be...
I haven't posted many pics of my hatches lately, but here's another adorable hatch I just had to show off And yet again a few more keepers (2 Buffs, a Buff Dundotte, a Pied Buff Dundotte and another Coral Blue). Very colorful hatch, with LOTS of Royal Purples which have got to be THE cutest...
I usually let them burn off some energy a while before I add their food and water...
Otherwise they have a messy brooder in a matter of 30 seconds!
Keets Havin' a Hay-Day!
I moved my 2 Peachicks to a new holding pen this weekend that they have to share with some young Guineas (until the Guineas can be integrated with the older flock)...
The Peachicks are quite insulted, lol.
