Not really baking but does anybody make beef stock? I make chicken all the time but tried beef the other day and when it cooled down it was more like beef jelly. Wondering how you get it thin like the bought stuff?
Thanks I'll read up.
I was thinking they would release sweetness in the warm milk but no idea how much to use. I tasted a leaf And they are so sweet it's disgusting.
Curious have any of you replaced sugar with real stevia? I've got a plant growing happily but I'm not really sure what to do with it. All the talk about custard made me think that might be a good place to start...I could add a couple of leaves to the milk when heating maybe?
A slice for us tends to be something baked in a rectangular tin with a biscuit base and then topping that can be cut into squares You do get slices with just all thick biscuity base of some sort but not as often. Hmm you would perhaps say cookie base? We use a plain biscuit (cookie)...
Yeah I thought that too. Unfortunatly after checking out recipes discovered there are surprisingly few cucumbers in pickles.
Tried to interest the kids in cucumber sandwiches for lunch but they were having none of it the uncultured little beggars
That looks yummy rottnot. !
Well I've started my Christmas cooking. We are having a cold lunch tomorrow so I've got my ham in the oven baking so it will be cool for tomorrow. Then it's turkey roll time.
Gotta remember to make the tea and chill it and freeze some juice ice blocks for the...
Yeah about that Apparently the black icing tube in the pantry was in fact icing gel. Did you know icing gel doesn't set? Yup it sure doesn't. When I try and pack them up all their mouths and eyeballs keep coming off
They are over rated as helpers. She baked them, then left me to decorate Oh and note to self, next time make your own piping icing, don't try and cheat by buying the ready made stuff. Was a bit too thick.
The apricot balls are my personal favourite. Wouldn't be xmas without them :-)...
We just started today. Miss 14 found a sugar cookie recipe and is making gingerbread men and reindeers from it. Just out of the oven so far.
Then we have apricot balls and my rumless rum balls to start.
I've had that with condensed milk and lemon meringue pie. from memory it had a lot to do with how long I beat it at the beginning. I'd be interested in the recipe too. Condensed milk doesn't agree with my youngest but milk and butter can always be tweaked with lactose free ingredients.
It was the Coles chocolate GF. I'm not a big cake person but they tell me it tasted good. They were a bit light on the included icing though, just as well I cooked two or it wouldn't have even covered the top!
Celebrating my daughters final HSC exam being over and her never having to go to...
Hanging my head in shame. Baking a packet mix cake for afternoon tea.
In my defence it's a gluten free packet mix cause I just couldn't be bothered going there!
Lol. That's normally me and I have natural food colours in the cupboard. I can't remember why I have these, I think they were to paint a picture on the icing of a birthday cake and the natural ones don't work real well for that. She had already mixed them in before I saw what she was doing. I...
