Oh my goodness, I am loving the baby pictures! So much fluffy cuteness :) And I have duly noted that KC's are rather amorous little things, thank you. Thank goodness my Cayuga and Pekin drakes have been so mellow. I'm dreading Springtime because they will be getting separated for everyone's...

The sad thing is I wish I was kidding. They were sitting under the hay trailer the other day, and when I squatted down to say hi, I broke a twig. Ducks got up and ran. It's human abuse, I tell you! Lol.

Ooh, pretty! I love your mottled one. And I feel for you on the anti-people thing. My ducks are that way, too. If I step on a twig wrong they all run like it's the end of the world.

Gloryjasmine, I worry that your duck might be getting into something toxic. It sounds like poisoning of some sort. There's no snail bait or rat poison he can get to, right? Hope you can get it figured out soon :) And on the feed, I fed my ducklings game bird feed for the first couple of months...

JadeComputerGal, I never really "met" you, but I hope everything goes well for you on your break! Take care :) Question: Has anyone here tried fermented feed for their ducks? We just got 550 lbs of fermenting barley for the chickens and DH gave a little to the ducks so they wouldn't feel left...

Pyxis, I say who cares about the breeds, so long as you love them :) I wish I could have geese here but I have to wait until I'm in a more rural area, as geese bite and can be loud. So I can't remember if I said so, but my mallard hen gave up on her nest of chicken eggs. Guess who gets to clean...

How exciting! What breed(s) do you have? I have to wait until Springtime to see the first egg from my mallard. She's a tease, I tell you. Hehe I'm the same way. I love to be close to animals sometimes and they aren't always happy I'm in their bubble.

The front of our yard is open right now. DH fed everyone that morning, went to the gas station for a moment, came back to find the hen hit in the road. She had just eaten and our yard is deep with the birds at the back, so there was no reason for her to wander. I went out later and looked and...

I doubt it, since we have other turkeys here that she would hang around with. I think a dog got into the yard and was chasing everyone. However, the idea that she did get away to the mountains and is living happy and wild is my fantasy :D Can't stand to think of the alternative.

Blue Godz, very sorry for your loss. I feel for you. I lost one of my chickens and my pet turkey the other day. The chicken was hit on the road and we can't find the turkey, and I'm heart broken. So sorry you had to lose so many babies. Hugs! Attimus, love the pictures of your little wood duck...

Oh my! I don't know if we have fishers here, but I think we do have marmots and mink. I would freak if I saw one near our yard. I hope the rest of your babies stay safe! On a different note, my mallard hen is indeed sitting. I found her little nest today but I can't see if she's on chicken eggs...
